At Mickey Fried Preschool (MFPS), we believe that children learn as they play.

We are an established South Orange preschool committed to providing play-based, high-quality early childhood education through the South Orange-Maplewood School District Preschool Program (SOMSD). As one of the largest district provider sites, MFPS offers a warm, creative environment in which each child’s unique style of learning is valued and nurtured. All SOMSD Preschool classrooms utilize the Tools of the Mind curriculum, and our experienced, dedicated preschool teachers help give your child the tools, space, and support to learn and grow in the classroom and beyond. Early math, literacy, and science concepts are introduced through thematic play in a fun and approachable way. Students develop their social and emotional skills and develop a new ability to focus and problem-solve!

Extended Hours: Enrichment Programming

A unique part of our afterschool programming is the Enrichment Classes that take place daily between 2:15-3:15. These optional add-on classes available to all students enrolled at MFPS feature a different topic each day. Choose from Cooking, Drama, MyGym, Yoga, and Soccer. These classes help improve critical thinking, social skills, fine/gross motor skills, cognition, and physical fitness.

If you need additional care beyond school and enrichment hours, students enrolled at MFPS can register for Stay & Play.

Early Care begins at 7:30 am daily (application)
Aftercare runs from dismissal at 2:15 through 5:30 pm. (application)
