TOTE-ally Purim 101
Why do we tote on Purim?
On Purim, we celebrate the day of deliverance by feasting, rejoicing, and honoring the tradition of mishloach manot, sending a gift of snacks and treats. By participating in this tradition, members can fulfill this mitzvah and support Oheb in a fun, meaningful way by gifting hand-curated treats packed in a handsome, reusable tote. It’s a great way to raise funds for the congregation and to involve families of congregants through a meaningful volunteer aspect (see below).
Who receives a tote?
Every member of Oheb Shalom, the staff, the clergy, and the families and teachers of the Mickey Fried Preschool and the Zeman Religious School receives one Purim tote, along with a listing of the people who sent their Purim gift.
How do I send a tote?
This web page will walk you through the process. You will need to log in to access this page. Your name and personal greeting will be included on the listing that accompanies the recipient’s Purim tote.
What if I forget someone who gifted me?
That’s not a problem. Just enable the Reciprocity option when checking out. This will automatically ensure that a Purim tote is sent to anyone who sends one to you. You will be charged the standard price of $5 for each reciprocal selection. Important note: your total will not be reflected until after the Purim holiday, and will vary based on the number of people who have selected you.
I already finalized my order. Can I add more recipients?
Yes! You can adjust your purchase at any time before TOTE-ally Purim closes. We encourage you to check your account to confirm selections and finalize the order by 11:59 pm on Sunday, March 3rd.
How do we receive our Purim totes?
If you are a Mickey Fried or Zeman family, or the parents of a madrich, your tote will be distributed through the school. All other members will have totes delivered to their door from March 17th until sundown on March 22nd.
How can I help?
To help us spread Purim joy, we’d love to welcome you to our delivery team! Just check the appropriate box on the web form (towards the bottom) or click here to volunteer.
